Art requirements vary for each application, whether it be screen printing, direct-to-garment, embroidery and/or promotional items. Please select from the list below to learn more about each processes art requirements. SCREEN PRINTING ARTWORK DIRECT TO GARMENT PRINTING ARTWORK EMBROIDERY LOGO DESIGN / DESIGN SERVICES SCREEN PRINTING There are two different types of artwork for screen printing:  VECTOR and RASTER. Raster Images, or Bitmaps, are most commonly photographs, however, the most popular raster file format extensions include: jpg/jpeg, psd, png, tiff, bmp and gif. NOTE:  Photoshop files (.psd) are raster images, NOT vector images. Vector Images are most commonly fonts or logos. The most popular vector file format extensions include: eps, ai, cdr and pdf. NOTE:  Vector can be saved as a Raster, but a Raster cannot be saved as a Vector.  Vectors can only be created from scratch. Our minimum artwork charge is $15.00.  It includes removing, adding or editing simple designs. Our hourly rate for artwork is $45.00/hour.  We will notify you of any art charges prior to doing the artwork. Artwork will be sized to your specifications and will require your approval, via virtual proof, before any job gets put in to production.  The faster you approve the proof the faster we can put it in production. Licensing...If you can’t prove you have the rights for licensed art we cannot print it. DIRECT TO GARMENT PRINTING The biggest difference between Direct-To-Garment (DTG) printing and screen printing is the limitations with special effects printing. Neon colors, glittery inks and reflectives are all examples of effects that can only be done with screen printing.  Please see below for a list of best practices... Tips to ensure your DTG designs will look great Your design needs to be atleast 300 DPI, DO NOT resize a lower resolution image to 300 DPI, it will look pixelated and blocky. File size under 25MB. Photoshop - Work with a transparent background and save as a .PNG file at 300 DPI. Adobe Illustrator - Save as an .EPS or .PNG file at 300 DPI with a transparent background. Even though you can print 15” x 18”, we don’t recommend it, most customers find it very overwhelming. We highly recommend to keep your designs to 12” or less.  Typical max print sizes for a Left Chest/Back Yolk are 3.5”-4”, Full Front is 11” and Full Back is 12.5”. There are industry standards for locations, we follow all of them unless otherwise directed. All designs are centered mathematically on the shirt with the exception of left or right chest prints, unless told otherwise. Remember that you are printing on a t-shirt, your design should incorporate the t-shirt color whenever possible. Avoid printing a solid square, instead try to design to the t-shirt. Avoid designing with subtle blends/fades into the t-shirt color. This can cause a hard edged halo effect to the print. Avoid designing with transparency levels less than 20%, it does NOT translate well from computer to t-shirt. You will lose it entirely or it will print as a solid color instead. Image specifications: Within 13"W x 16"H @ 300 dpi (i.e. 4500 x 5400 pixels), sRGB, PNG, less than 25MB. EMBROIDERY (DIGITIZING) If you are providing your own files for embroidery, we prefer .DST format.  If you need your logo digitized we offer in-house digitizing as well.  File set-ups start around $15.00 and can get up to $150.00 depending on the design.  The most common set-up for embroidery is $35.00. Please note that files created for specific fabrics or products may not work on other products, for example, digitizing done for bags may not stitch out well on hats. All digitized files and separations are property of White House.  Please ask about purchase options at time of order. All artwork is kept on file at White House.  We only charge a fraction of the actual cost of these services, to help cover the set-up costs.  The quality of our services are determined on the quality of our files based on the skill of our digitizers and artists. Please do not hesitate to call us at 727-321-7398 or email info@whcustom.com with any questions you have.  We enjoy what we do and we like talking about.  We are here to help and to make the whole process easier for our customers.
