How Screen Printing Works?
Traditional screen printing, also called silkscreen printing, forces ink through a fine silk mesh onto the fabric below. Here's the basic printing process our shop follows:

Artwork and film positives
We separate your original design by colour and print each as a film positive. A design with four colours needs four separate films. CMYK printing uses cyan, magenta, yellow, and black for full-colour separations.

Coating the screen
Each screen gets a layer of photo emulsion in a dark room, or we use a pre sensitized emulsion that is ready to use without extra mixing. The emulsion is light-sensitive, so it has to stay out of any light source until exposure.

Exposure
We lay the film positive on the coated mesh and hit it with a controlled light source. Exposure time matters: too short and the stencil washes away, too long and you lose fine details. Where the film blocks light, the emulsion stays soft and rinses out with a special washing fluid, leaving an open stencil on the printing board.

Mesh count and detail
Mesh count (threads per square inch) controls how much ink passes and how sharp the detail is. A low mesh count lays down heavy ink for bold one-colour work; a high mesh count holds the fine details in intricate designs and detailed prints.

Printing
The screen locks onto the screen printing press. We flood the mesh, then draw a rubber blade across to push the ink through the open stencil onto the printed surface. On a manual or semi automatic carousel, we register multiple screens so multiple colours line up. A quick job might be a single screen; detailed work runs several.

Heat curing
The printed shirt passes through a dryer that cures the ink at high temperature so the design bonds permanently. Skip proper curing and the print cracks or peels after the first wash.
We run water based inks, discharge inks, and plastisol depending on the fabric and feel you want. Discharge and water based inks soak into cotton for a soft hand; plastisol sits on top for maximum opacity on darker fabrics.
